THURSDAY JULY 28 MEETING FEATURES POET JOHN WILLIAMS


Portland poet John Sibley Williams is the featured speaker at the Guild’s Thursday July 28 meeting. His topic is, “Writing Outside Experience”. John’s presentation will include discussions on his process and perspective on poetry composition. He will engage participants in an activity that guides them toward the goal of turning their experiences into poetry. He will also share advice about publishing and marketing your writing.

John Sibley Williams is a poet, freelance agent and publicist who currently studies Book Publishing at Portland State University. He is Acquisitions Manager for Ooligan Press and publicist for Three Muses Press. His poetry was nominated for the 2009 Pushcart Prize and won the 2011 Heart Poetry Award. His work has been published in several publications including his own chapbooks. Recently, one of his poems was featured in the Spring 2011 Poetry Quarterly. The meeting takes place at the COCC Redmond Campus, 2030 SE College Loop, Building 3 Room 309 this Thursday from 6:30-9:00 p.m. We hope to see everyone there!
