For our children’s writers:

OCCBW presents the tenth Oregon Coast Children's Book Writers Workshop, July 9-13, in the exquisite Oregon coast town of Oceanside. For more information visit www.occbww.com.

Knowonder is an online children’s magazine dedicated to providing a story a day to develop a child’s love of reading. They are currently restructuring to make their site better and more accessible. The newly designed site should launch June 1^st, but they are looking for story submissions now. Visit their website to see what they are looking for and as always follow their submission guidelines.

There is a wonderful online resource for children’s writers. Verla Kay’s message boards (known by the users as the blueboards) is a free site for children’s writers and illustrators. The users discuss everything there is to discuss about craft, publishing opportunities, resources, different genres, even share response times from submissions. It is a wealth of information and a caring, supportive environment. Sign up here.

About Us

CENTRAL OREGON WRITERS GUILD
Founded in 2002, Central Oregon Writers Guild's mission is to provide Central Oregon area writers a forum for mutual support and education through meetings, critique groups, annual events and workshops. Our goal is to advance growth and success for individual writers of all genres and skill levels. The Guild is a not-for-profit organization, where volunteers coordinate the group's activities.

MEETINGS
Guild meetings take place on the fourth Thursday of each month, except for November and December, where we offer programs featuring authors, editors, agents and publishers to speak on topics of interest to writers at all skill levels. Meetings are free and open to the public. Regular blog updates provide details about programs, speakers, and locations.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to writers at all skill levels and genres, as well as anyone interested in writing. Annual dues are $20, prorated quarterly, and renewal is $18. LITERARY HARVEST
The Guild's Annual Literary Harvest features a writing contest open to members and local area residents. The contest opens in June, and guidelines for entry will be posted on the blog in May. Winners are selected by a volunteer panel of judges. The top ten winners read their stories at the Harvest in early October. Their winning pieces are published in the Literary Harvest Chapbook, which is available for purchase at the Guild meetings, as well as local book stores.

REDMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT FOURTH GRADE BOOK CONTEST
In partnership with the High Desert Society of the Arts, Redmond Rotary Club and Redmond Library, Central Oregon Writers Guild sponsors the annual Redmond School District’s 4th Grade Book Contest. The contest is open to Redmond School District 4th grade students, including those who attend Christian schools and home schooled students who are at the 4th grade level. HDSA and Guild members make classroom presentations to offer students guidance as they write and illustrate their books. The contest opens in September, and information is posted on the blog.

CRITIQUE GROUPS
