Haiku Northwest welcomes all poets to attend its first haiku retreat, coming up October 10-12, 2008 at the Seabeck Conference Center on Kitsap Peninsula. Visit http://hometown.aol.com/welchm/Haiku-Northwest-2008-Seabeck.html for complete information about the retreat, including lots of location and facility photos. Featured guests included master haiku poet and translator Emiko Miyashita, visiting from Japan, as well as workshops and presentations by Christopher Herold, Alice Frampton, Michael Dylan Welch, and more. Weekend activities include a haiku scavenger hunt, writing and sharing haiku, anonymous and guided workshops, time to explore the woods, lagoon, and tidal waterfront, and much poetic camaraderie. Just $139 for a full weekend, including accommodations and six meals.

If you're interested in coming, the discounted rate of $139 is good until August 30 (postmark deadline). You can still register after that, but the price goes up to $149. So if you're coming, please register soon! There's also a day rate for Saturday only ($36 through August 30, then $46 after that).
