Poet Judith Montgomery to Speak at Thursday June 27 Guild Meeting in Bend

Judith H. Montgomery lives in Bend, Oregon, with her husband and Springer spaniel, Ruby.  Her poems appear in Ars Medica, Cimarron Review, Measure, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Hunger Mountain, and Cave Wall, among other journals, as well as in a number of anthologies.  She’s been awarded fellowships in poetry from Literary Arts and the Oregon Arts Commission to work on a new manuscript (Ambiguous Gift); and several nominations for Pushcart prizes.  Her chapbook, Passion, received the 2000 Oregon Book Award for poetry.  Her second collection, Red Jess, appeared in February 2006 from Cherry Grove Collections; her second chapbook, Pulse & Constellation, was a finalist for the Finishing Line Press Competition and appeared in 2007 from the Press.  She holds a doctorate in American Literature from Syracuse University, has been honored to judge contests for individual poems and for manuscripts, and teaches poetry workshops throughout Oregon.  She loves reading and talking about poetry—her own and others’—and savors surprise.

Central Oregon Writers Guild’s Thursday, June 27 meeting takes place East Branch, Bend Public Library, 62080 Dean Swift Road (near 27th and Greenwood), 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. We hope to see a great turnout especially from our Bend Guild members! The meeting is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
