Pat & Kai's Library Event

COWG authors, Pat Wilson and Kai Strand, were joined by illustrators, Sharon Bean and K.C. Snider, for an all day event at the Redmond Library on June 18, 2011.

The Redmond Library is displaying the original illustration artwork of Sharon Bean and KC Snider as part of their summer reading program. The art is hung throughout the library and offers information on the books they are included in.

To celebrate the display, the Redmond Library hosted the day long event on the 18th.

Pat Wilson and Sharon Bean were on hand to talk about their collaboration efforts on Pat’s book I Can’t See, But…I Can Imagine. Pat played the cd and shared the story with young visitors.

Sharon talked about her artistic process and shared some of her pencil sketches.

KC Snider did the cover art for Kai Strand’s middle grade novel, The Weaver. Kai read from The Weaver and shared where the inspiration for the story came from.

KC had an impressive display of the picture books she has illustrated for her and Kai’s publisher, Guardian Angel Publishing.

The authors and illustrators were available in the afternoon for book signing and lots of great discussions about writing, illustrating and reading.

The afternoon was capped off with a lovely reception for visitors. It was a great event. Thank you to all the folks who worked hard to put it together and a special thank you to the Redmond Public Library. Please be sure to stop by and peruse the art display. You won’t be sorry.

Visit Kai Strand's Author page on Facebook for more pictures from the event.

Local Author Publishes New Book About Pregnancy

The Straight Poop on Pregnancy “Media Release”

The hilarious side of being pregnant? Natalie Kimmel will have you laughing out loud with her new book, The Straight Poop on Pregnancy!

Set to be released later this month, The Straight Poop on Pregnancy is a humorous, interactive keepsake for pregnant women, whether they are experiencing their first, second, or fifth pregnancy. All too often, pregnancy literature highlights the grand joys and rosy pleasantries a woman will experience during her nine month journey. But it’s not all glowing skin and shiny hair.

This book hilariously catalogs the less pleasant and much less publicized side-effects of pregnancy with fun illustrations. It also lets the pregnant woman journal her unpleasantries for future reference. All illustrations in the book are originals by the author. The thirty-two page book sells for $12.95.
